peacefully Oct. 7, 2011, at home after a struggle with cancer.
The
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church in Clearbrook. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2
p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Clearwater Cemetery
in rural Clearbrook.

Beaulieu, 59, of Red Lake, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at her home.
The
funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at St. Mary’s Mission
Catholic Church in Red Lake. A wake will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday,
Oct. 8, at Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake and will continue
until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Mary’s

Lowell
Elson Bjella died Oct 2, 2011 in Everett, WA.
Born
Feb 7, 1926 to Timan and Connie Bjella in Bemidji, MN. Preceded
in death by his parents and sisters Cheryl and Audrey.
Lowell
grew up in the Bemidji area and graduated high school from the Northwest
School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. He then enlisted in the
U.S. Army as a paratrooper (the 503rd Regiment) in WWII. He was
decorated for his part in liberating the Philippines and also was
stationed in Japan.
After
the war, he returned to Bemidji, married Manilla Meyer and raised
his family while working for his father who owned Tim’s Implement
Company which Lowell later owned. Lowell was also a County Commissioner
for Beltrami County.
Lowell
and Manilla moved to Washington State in 1998.
He
is survived by his brothers Russell of Plymouth, MN and Tim of Silver
Bay, MN: his loving wife Manilla, Mill Creek, WA: his children,
Paula (Dick) Joerger, Newport, MN; Karmon (Linda), Alpena, MI; Linda
(Paul) Kohrs, Lynden, WA; Scott (Lee), Everett, WA; Hiedi (Bernie)
Folkert, Bemidji, MN; Keith, Mill Creek, WA: 18 grandchildren and
numerous great-grandchildren.
No
service will be held – just a private family prayer time. Lowell
was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Everett, WA and also
attended Hope Lutheran Church, Everett, WA. In lieu of flowers,
memorials in Lowell’s honor can be made to either of the churches
or to the Gideons International.

Anna
Louise Chilgren, 89, passed away September 18, 2011 at the Lakewood
Health Center at the age of 89. Anna was born October 4, 1921 in Rolla,
North Dakota to Elvira (Koski) and Charles Johnson. She was raised
south of Graceton and graduated from High School in Williams, Minnesota
in 1940. On March 17, 1942 she married Emmett Chilgren in Hibbing,
Minnesota. They had two daughters, Janette and Vivian. Anna loved
her family and friends. She loved dancing, music and traveling. Anna
was a member of the First Congregational Church, American Legion Auxillary,
and the VFW Auxillary.
Anna
is survived by her children, Janette (Lee) Hardy and Vivan (Rich)
Kevan; sisters, Irene Gailfus, Hazel Moorman, Grace (Noreen) Hanson;
brothers, Walter (Violet) Johnson, Willard (Sue) Johnson, Russell(Casey)
Johnson and sister-in-law, Marie Johnson; grandchildren, Dana DeVore,
Derek Biddle, Jeffrey (Angela) Hardy, Aaron (Jessica) Hardy; 10
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Anna
is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emmett; brothers
Ray and Glen; sister, Edith Jensen; brothers-in-law Jack Jensen
and Clifford Moorman; sister-in-law, Pearl Johnson. A Memorial service
for Anna will be September 23, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Congregational
Church in Baudette,MN.

Danny
Dalzell, 65, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at the Veteran’s
Administration Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota on Monday, September
26th, 2011. Danny Lloyd Dalzell was born November 18, 1945 at Grafton,
North Dakota, the son of Luverne and Alyce (McNeil) Dalzell. He grew
up at Walhalla, North Dakota and graduated from high school there
in 1964. Danny enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 30, 1964. He
served over two years in Viet Nam and returned home December 23, 1967.
Danny worked at the Annaconda Aluminum Mine in Kalispal, Montana for
several years. He married Linda Owens in 1970. Danny returned to North
Dakota and in 1974 married LoAnn Rude at Crookston. They settled in
Cavalier and later Hillsboro, North Dakota. Danny and LoAnn moved
to Casper and after a year to Glendo, Wyoming where he worked as a
heavy equipment mechanic. They moved to Hallock in 1981. Danny worked
as a boiler operator at American Crystal Sugar Company for several
years. He also worked on several
area farms and at UAP in Hallock. He was a member of the American
Legion, the Eagles and the NRA. Family members include his wife, LoAnn;
daughters, Charitie (Demetrius) Davis, Palm Coast, FL, Heather Dalzell,
also of Palm Coast and Gloria Stanton, Columbia Falls, MT; a son,
Daniel “Cody” Dalzell, Lake Bronson, MN; 7 grandchildren,
Degan, Kamron, Kadyn, Malia, Malachi, Isaiah and Lucas; brothers,
Dennis Dalzell, Leroy, ND, Dale (Sharon) Dalzell, Walhalla and Davie
(Sonja) Dalzell, Palmer, AK; a sister, Dianne (Wayne) LaRocque, Moncton,
New Brunswick; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents; and two brothers, Dewey and DeWayne. Memorial services are
scheduled for Friday, Octobeer 7th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran
Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock.
Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding. Special music provided by the Poppleridge
Pickers and Katrice Housker. Honorary casket bearers will be Danny’s
grandchildren, Malia Dazell, Degan Davis, Kamron Davis, Kadyn Davis,

home.

He

Olga
Grythe, 88, of Thief River Falls, formerly of Badger, MN, died on
Sunday, September 4, 2011 in Oakland Park Nursing Home at Thief River
Falls, MN.
Olga Grythe, was born Olga Irene Martinson, the daughter of Simon
& Martha (Dahl) Martinson, in Ross Township, Roseau County, north
of Badger, MN. She grew up and attended school there. She was married
to Raymond Grythe on December 20, 1947 in Badger, MN. She and Ray
farmed together in Stokes Township, south of Badger for many years.
Ray died in 1994 and Olga moved into Summerfield Apartments in Badger.
Olga was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening and cooking
and was an avid reader. She was especially proud of her Norwegian
heritage. She is survived by her daughter—Cindy Pugh of Thief
River Falls, MN. 3 grandchildren—David Pugh of Canyon Country,
California, Joel Pugh of East Grand Forks, MN and Christine Jones
of Thief River Falls & 1 great-granddaughter—Megan Jones.
1 brother—Bennie Martinson of Biwabik, MN and 1 sister—Julia
Spangrud of Mound, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, one son—Wade Grythe, 4 sisters—Selma Blaske, Myrtle
Naumann, Alma Dahl & Martha Sluka & 2 brothers—Martin
& Clifford Martinson.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 12, 2011 in Gieseke
Funeral Chapel of Greenbush with Pastor Jim Chiristenson, officiating.
Donna Graff was the organist. Pallbearers were Joel & David Pugh,
Arlen Stenvik & Pastor Jim Christenson. Interment was in the Badger
City Cemetery at Badger, MN with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush
in charge of funeral arrangements.

Jacob
Halseth [sic], 82 Years, Pioneer County Resident, Passed Away Sunday
Night
Jacob Helseth, 82 years of age, died at his home in Bagley Sunday
evening, Jan. 10, after an illness of several years. Active until
this winter, Mr. Helesth [sic] had been confined to his bed for
a number of weeks.
The
funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at
the home and at 2 o'clock at the St. Paul Lutherean church, with
Rev. O. I. Rossing in charge. Interment was made in the Bagley cemetery.
The Neujahr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers
included John Knutson and Karolis Eidevik of Shevlin, and Aslak
Norby, Louis Vigoren, John Sherva and Severt Stout of Bagley.
Mr.
Helseth was born in Nordfjord, Norway, Aug. 24, 1854. On the 20th
of August, 1883, he left Bergen alone and sailed for America. Locating
at Benson, Minn., where he remained for a year, he was united in
marriage March 17, 1884, to Elena Barstad. They went to live at
Ada and after about six years moved to Fosston.
From
there they moved to Shevlin, traveling in a covered wagon. Mr. Helesth
[sic] was one of the charter members of the Landstad Lutheran church
of Shevlin. From 1896 to 1912 the family lived at Shevlin, and then
moved to Bagley. He had lived here since.
For
the last 12 years or more he had lived in retirement from active
work, and had been in poor health for the last few years.
Left to mourn are the children, Mrs. John Aasen of Skime, Mrs. Carl
Young of East Grand Forks, Jens and Oscar at home, Louis of Milwaukee,
Wisc., and 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Alice Hanson, 86, of Blackduck, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at
the Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck.
The
memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Faith
Lutheran Church of Blackduck. Burial will be at the Lakeview Cemetery,
Blackduck, under the direction of Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck.
She
is survived by her daughter, Kandee (Woodie) Gripp of Hines; special
daughter, Nancy Hanson of Blackduck; three grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Urban of Omaha, Neb.; and
other relatives.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2007; son, Ron, in

Raymond
Kenneth Hanson, 82, of Strathcona, MN, died on Tuesday, September
13, 2011 at his home in rural Strathcona.
Raymond Kenneth Hanson, the son of Sigurd & Hannah (Engstrom)
Hanson, was born September 16, 1928 at Roosevelt, MN. He was one of
eight children. He attended school at Roosevelt in Laona Township,
Dist 76. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 in the infantry
during the Korean Conflict. Ray & Sonja began their lifelong partnership
when they were married on October 5, 1960 in Greenbush. They lived
near Moorhead for 3 years before moving to Strathcona.
He was the beloved husband of Sonja for 50 years and the father of
their 3 children—Wayne (Dena) Hanson of Strathcona; Kenny Hanson
of Strathcona & Anita (Joe) Laurin of Badger, MN. Grandchildren—Janna
(Nathan) Lorenson & Zachery (Chelsie) Hanson & 2 great-grandchildren—Kylyn
& Joslyn.
3 brothers—Edgar of Williams, MN, Laurence & Gordon of Roosevelt,
& several nieces & nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his
parents, 1 sister—Ethel Hecker and 3 brothers—Melvin, Alfred
and Walter. Ray was a commercial beekeeper for 50 years. He had developed
a passion for beekeeping at a very young age. He spent many winters
logging and was an avid trapper. He also had a great love for music
and so enjoyed playing his Dobro and pedal steel guitar. His family
and friends were his pride and joy. He was a very humble person with
a kind and gentle spirit. Funeral Services were held on Sunday, September
18, 2011 in Grace Evangelical Church of Strathcona with Pastor Robert
Ludwig, officiating.Special music was provided by Howard Hodne, Robin
Johnson, Chris Hamness & Kay Prothero. Pat Ludwig was at the organ.
Casket Bearers were Zachery Hanson, Darrell Miller, Chris & Dale
Hamness, Howard Hodne, Robert & Earl Wahl. Interment was in Greenwood
Cemetery at Strathcona with Military Honors provided by Moen-Zimek
Post 88, American Legion of Greenbush with assistance from the Minnesota
National Guard. Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.

Iyone R. Horvath was born January 13, 1923 to Herman and Rose Ehrlichman.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
at Holdingford, MN and graduated from Holdingford High School. She
was a lifetime member of the Christian Mothers Society. |

Andrew
“Andy” Ted Johnson, 30, of Osage, MN died on Tuesday, September
6, 2011 at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis,
Minnesota.
Andy Johnson was born on August 31, 1981 to Ted and Lori (Lindstrom)
Johnson in Grand Forks, ND. Andy had severe congenital heart defects
which required surgery when he was just 6 days old.
Andy spent his early years growing up in Hallock, Minnesota. He loved
Hallock and the people there dearly. In 1995, he and his family moved
to the Park Rapids/Osage area where he attended school and graduated
in 2000. Andy lived at Heartland Homes in Park Rapids for the past
eight years. He was very happy there and had excellent care. He worked
at the Hubbard County DAC since 2000.
Andy was an ardent sports fan. He loved all sports and every team.
He had a fantastic memory for coaches’ names, players’ names
and statistics. He loved car races and was a devoted Nascar Fan; Dale
Earnhardt Jr. was his favorite. He enjoyed fishing year-round with
his dad and cousins, and loved spending time with his family. He loved
to travel, and visited many places, including California, Florida,
Georgia, Chicago, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, Disneyland,
the Bahamas, and everywhere in between. Andy was also an avid movie
fan. He went to the theater almost every week and had a collection
of at least 500 videos and DVDs.
Andy was a confirmed member of Calvary Lutheran Church. His faith
was very important to him.
Andy had a very easy-going personality and an infectious laugh. He
touched the hearts of so many people, and will be loved and missed
by all who knew him.
Andy is survived by his parents- Ted and Lori Johnson of Osage, MN;
sisters - Jaimee (Kevin) Frank of Yorkville, Ill; Alissa (Anthony)Gianfortone
of Waverly Hall, GA; Grandmother- Marian Johnson of Karlstad, MN;
niece and nephews- Zoe and Max Frank, Aiden and NoahGianfortone; aunts
and uncles- Jim & Virginia Johnson, Terry & Gail Johnson,
Barb & Matt Berg, Jeff & Peggy Lindstrom, Robert & Pat
Lindstrom, Diane & Paul Ditmanson, many cousins and relatives
and was a friend to all who met him.
Andy was preceded in death by his grandfather Harold Johnson, grandparents;

Joseph F., age 86 of Williams, MN formerly of Minneapolis. Passed
away peacefully September 12, 2011. Preceded in death by wife, Barbara;
parents, Mary & Joseph; brothers, George, Leroy, Kernie; and
sister, Pauline. Survived by children, Gregory (Eileen), Sheila
(David), Michael (Diane), Barb (Bob); grandchildren, Alicia, Trina,
Gregory, Joseph, Mike, Bobby, Jacob, Robert, Richard; great-grandson,
Bryson; special friends, Alicia Parker & Robert Dolle. Joe managed
the Andrews Hotel Bar, Hopkins House, and Nite Hawk Club. He was
an avid hunter and sportsman and enjoyed the outdoors and his garden.
You couldn’t find a better cook than Joe. He was a wonderful
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Larson, 81, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial
Healthcare Center in Hallock on Friday, September 30, 2011. Leona
Margaret Anderson was born in Kittson County on October 22, 1929,
the daughter of Levin and Martha (Hoglin) Anderson. She attended school
in Hallock and graduated from high school in 1947.
Leona worked as a telephone operator and at Glidden’s Dairy Bar
and Dairy for several years. Leona also worked at the Co-op Elevator
until her retirement. On September 1, 1950 she married Walter “Swede”
Larson. Swede passed away on December 16th, 2006. Leona was a member
of Grace Lutheran Church and the “Sewing Club”. Family was
especially important to Leona and she enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting
and baking for Swede and the children. Leona became a resident of
the nursing center in 2003. Family members include her children, Michael
(Deb) Larson, Warroad, MN, Patricia (Ron) Sugden, Battle Lake, MN,
Craig (Jody) Larson, Bemidji, MN and Kevin (Melissa) Larson, Hallock;
10 grandchildren, Carmie Larson Storey, Tara Sugden Hanson, Megan
Sugden Johnson, Kent Larson, Mark Larson, Casey Larson, Austin Larson,
Madisson Larson, Tristan larson, Oscar Larson and Brianna Tolman;

Melvin
Leslie Malbraaten was born October 30, 1924 in Walker, MN to Gilbert
and Andrine (Kravik) Malbraaten. He was raised in Laporte, MN on
the family homestead. He married Merle Campton on December 24, 1945.
They moved to Bemidji in January 1946 and raised their family. Merle
passed away April 5, 1991. He married Alice Larson on February 8,
1992 she passed away March 7, 2005. Melvin owned and operated Malbraaten
Trucking until his death and also farmed as a hobby.
He
is survived by his children, Leona (Rick) Winters of Bemidji, MN,
Daryl (Teri) Malbraaten of Bemidji, MN, Virgil (Tammy) Malbraaten
of Blackduck, MN, Rick (Helen) Malbraaten of Bemidji, MN, LuAnn
Angel of Rogers, TX and daughter-in-law, Else Anderson of Underwood,

Myra
Mann-Haws (nee Johnson), age 89 of Rosemount, MN. Passed away peacefully
on 9/11/11 at Trinity Care Center, Farmington, MN.
Born
in Bemidji, MN, to Martin and Emma Johnson, 4-11-22. Preceded in
death by parents, husbands, Charles Mann & Lee Haws, son Vernon,
brothers Vernon, Wallace, Norman, Donald & Clifford.
Survived
by son Ed & Judy Johnson, Rosemount, MN, daughter-in-law, Sherry
Mann, Roseburg, OR, sisters-in-law Helen Johnson & Dorothy Huber
of Bemidji, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great
grandchildren.
Mom
had many interests in life, camping, gold mining, rock club, bowling,
crafts, garage sales, bingo. Love of her dogs, Foxy Lady, Taffy,
Cisco and all her wild birds & animals she fed when she lived
in the Oregon country side.
Most
of all, a kind & gentle soul that loved her family & friends.
May
you always be as fine as frogs hair.
Rest
in peace Mom.

Edward
G. Mooney “Buzz”, 60, died on Saturday, September 24, 2011
at his home in Thief River Falls, MN surrounded by his loving family
following a three year battle with brain cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, September
28, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls,
MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will be held at Blessed
Sacrament Cemetery in Greenbush, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM
Prayer Service and a 7:30 PM Rosary Service on Tuesday, September
27, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Visitation will also
be held from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM on Wednesday at the church.
Edward Gary Mooney Jr. was born on May 9, 1951 the son of Edward David,
Sr. and Irene (Bialke) Mooney. He was baptized at St. Stephens Catholic
Church in Minneapolis, MN and confirmed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church
in Leo, MN near Greenbush, MN. Ed attended school in Greenbush, MN
graduating 1969. From 1970 until 1993 Ed was married to Lynnae Kjos
and to this union two children were born, Lesa and Collin.
Following graduation he entered into service with the United States
Navy in June of 1969. During his twenty years of active duty “EDventures”,
Ed served as a Dental Technician. He was stationed at the Great Lakes
as well as numerous other locations throughout the world including
Taiwan, Spain, California, Virginia, and was also stationed in Philadelphia
but lived in New Jersey. Ed retired and was Honorably Discharged on
July 31, 1989 and he returned to Thief River Falls.
Ed started a computer business out of his house in Thief River Falls
which he called “Computer Run.” In 1992 he added the Radio
Shack franchise to his business. Through work, Ed met Kari Lokstad
and the couple was married on November 1, 1996. Kari brought her daughter,
Emily to this union.
When Ed was a child he had the nickname of “Buzz” which
was given to him by his aunt, Florence because he was always busy
buzzing around the house. This nickname stuck with him throughout
the years. Ed was a very selfless person, was always considerate of
others, had a great sense of humor, and had a beautiful mind. Ed put
the fun in fun and he had a great personality and lived a full life.
He was actively involved in his son Collin’s DJ business, (Backdraft).
He lived and loved every day of his life and loved to spend time with
family and friends at Maple Lake. Ed loved travel, work & play,
everything he did he did with passion.
Ed was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Knights Of
Columbus, Eagle’s Club, Lion’s Club, and American Legion
Post in Thief River Falls. He supported many events and fundraisers
in the community and was active in the Arts Council, local bull ride
committee and was instrumental in reestablishing the local cancer
support group.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kari; children, Lesa (Ken) Hagman,
Collin (Stacie) Mooney and Emily Blue, all of Thief River Falls; grandchildren,
Roxanna, Ken Jr., Blade, Kyle, and Ciera; great-granddaughter, Reese;
father, Edward D. (Etta) Mooney Sr. of Thief River Falls; siblings,
Ronald (Colette) Mooney of Greenbush, Kenneth (Valerie) Mooney of
Thief River Falls and his baby-sister, Terri (Dennis) Brazier of Greenbush;
and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his
mother, Irene in 1996; and his grandparents.

Pete
Frederick Neadeau, 67 of Red Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Red Lake
Hospital.
The
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Red Lake Community
Center in Red Lake. A wake will begin Thursday, Oct. 13, at the
Red Lake Community Center and will continue until the time of service.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Cemetery in Red
Lake.

Gordon
M. Olson, 87, died October 1, 2011 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji,
MN.
Memorial
Services will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Bemidji
United Methodist Church with Pastors Gay Albers and Eric Hucke officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Inurnment will be Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji, MN. Arrangements
were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation
Service of Bemidji, MN.
Gordon
was born on December 6, 1923 at Hawley, MN to Victor and Grace Olson.
He married LaVerne Evans on August 19, 1951 at Bemidji, MN. Gordon
served in the US Navy during WWII. After his honorable discharge,
he worked in several bakeries including 16 years at Bemidji State
University. He also worked in the furniture business including Galli
Furniture, Kordel Furniture, A & D Interiors and the Mercantile
in Bemidji.
He
is survived by his wife, LaVerne; son, Roger (Sherry) of Bemidji,
MN; 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Verna Norden,
Bemidji, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Russell
Olson and sisters, Lois Olson, Vivian Anderson, Leila Bergsven.
In
lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the United Methodist
Church of Bemidji or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Leslie
Peterson, 70, of Williams, Minnesota, passed away August 29, 2011,
in Madison, Wisconsin, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Les
was born on September 2, 1940, in Karlstad, Minnesota, to Evald
and Patrice Peterson. He is survived by his wife, Noel (Becker),
of 50 years and their three children, Charlene (Greg McGraw), Scott
(Marti), Patrick (Julie), and seven grandchildren (Amanda and Casey
McGraw, Kylie, Corey, and Jordyn Peterson, and Dalton and Savannah
Peterson). He is also survived by five sisters, six brothers, numerous
in-laws and extended family members, and many friends. He was preceded
in death by his parents, four brothers, infant twin sons, and infant
grandson.
A celebration
of Les’ life was held in Wisconsin on September 3, 2011. A
Memorial Mass for Les will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 4:30
p.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Williams, Minnesota. Refreshments
will be served after mass.

Maynard
James Raisch, 55, of Cass Lake, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at
the Indian Health Service Hospital in Cass Lake.
A wake
service will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and continue until
the 1 p.m. service Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Veteran’s Memorial
Building in Cass Lake.
Arrangements
are with Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker.
He
is survived by his brothers, Joseph “Sonny” Raisch of
Cass Lake and Donald “Booty” Raisch of Minneapolis; sisters,
Linda Wilson of Cass Lake and Joanne (Frank) Ortley of Cass Lake;
special friend, Sylvia Gale of Cass Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews,
other relatives and many friends.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dolores (Fairbanks)
Raisch; brother, Sheldon; a nephew; and a great grandson.

“Ginger” M. Weiss age 59, of East Grand Forks, MN died Sunday,
September 11, 2011 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

| WHEELOCK |
Vivian
Marie Wheelock was born April 6, 1933 to Dan and Ethel Wheelock in
Birchdale, MN. She passed away peacefully at home in Hillsboro, Oregon
on Sept. 22nd, 2011 from cancer. Vivian grew up in Birchdale and attended
grade school at Birchdale and Border, MN. Vivian attended Indus High
School for 3 years. Her mother and she then moved to Minneapolis,
MN where her mother obtained work as a home care nurse and Vivian
attended Robinsdale High School, graduating as an honor student. Vivian
spent 1 year in nurses training at University of Minnesota and eventually
worked for Northwestern National Life Insurance.
On
Jan 7. 1955 Vivian married John Grund, whom she had known since
age 10, and they moved to their farm in Pitt, MN. Four sons were
born to them: Eric, Dan, John Michael and Theodore who, along with
their families, including 9 grandchildren, survive her. Her husband
John, two brothers; George of International Falls, MN and Stanley
of Georgia also survive her. Preceding Vivian in death were her
parents, her brothers Lester and Dean, and her sister Doris.
In
1964 John and Vivian left the farm and moved to Oregon. Vivian took
a job at a health spa to help the family when John was hospitalized
in 1965 and later worked in nursing homes in Washington County.
In 1975 she obtained her real estate license and sold real estate
until retirement. Vivian’s natural joys were her family first
and then gardening. She was happy when she had her little shovel
in hand and could weed the flowerbeds. She also enjoyed cooking
and having friends over for dinner. Vivian suffered a stroke in
2004, which left her without the use of her left arm and leg, but
she continued to do her favorite things, gardening and cooking.
She even continued to bake homemade bread and her famous pies.
Vivian
embraced the teachings of Jesus Christ at an early age and showed
her love for Him in her life. She loved deeply and will be sorely
missed. Her faith sustained her to the end.

Dale Williams, 63, of Bemidji, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at his home
in Bemidji.
A memorial
service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Evangelical
Free Church in Blackduck with the Rev. Dwight Warden officiating.
